Gen. Odom

During Hugh's interview with Gen. Odom Hugh could have said that he and the other so-called chickenhawks aren't saying anything the troops and vets aren't saying.  And those of us who have served gladly lend our voices to Hugh's and those who continue to support our troops.

On the other hand, when Gen. Odom told Hugh he could be recruited Hugh should have said, "Well, I'm fifty-one years old but if my country calls me because they think I can help, I'll go."  We have to be just as willing as the boys and girls who are now doing the job.

And I never, ever, ever want to hear a single member of congress, of either party, who voted for that shameful resolution claim that they support the troops.  Not one, not ever.

One Man, One Vote, and Campaign Finance Reform

It has long been my view that if you want to reform campaign financing and drastically reduce the influence that corporations and special interests have compared to individuals we ought to say:

"If you are eligible to vote, then you can contribute directly to your favorite politician and party.  If you are not eligible to vote, you cannot make direct contributions."

Corporations can't vote.  PAC's can't vote.  Unions can't vote.  Only individual people can vote.

Endgame Conservatives Have the Same Burden as Cut-and-Runners

What happens next?  What will be the short- and long-range consequences if what you Endgamers advocate is adopted?

Even if Iraq is not our enemies' center of gravity in their war for terror (though I remain convinced it is), it certainly is our center of gravity in our war on terror.  An Iraq and Iran under the control of radical Islamofascists would spell the beginning of our loss of influence in the region and doom for Israel.  Saudi Arabia would succomb to increasing pressure in the region and do what they do best - appease until the crocodile finally eats them as well.  If you want economic disaster, you couldn't prescribe a better method than to choke off our oil, which our enemies would love to do.

Nation building?  Worked ok in Germany.  Worked well in Japan.  South Korea ain't so bad either.

The main thing though is that Endgamers have to supply answers to the above questions.  If they can't, let's move on to the next issue, as this one will no longer need our attention.

UPDATE:  That means keep your eye on the ball, and the ball is securing Bagdhad and giving the Iraqi people a chance to build their own nation.

Good Evening

And hello.

As this is my first post I only wish to introduce myself.  My name is Michael.  I live in Southern California.  I am married and have two children, one a former Marine, and the other about to graduate from high school.  I am a former member of Uncle Sam's Canoe Club (aka US Navy) trained in aviation electronics.

I will be opining on goings on here and abroad and some of it might even make sense if I manage to get out of my own way.

Good to be aboard.
